But Pud, on too many occasions, Smart does, in fact, misplay and misread his role yet coach CBS does nothing.
But I digressed to Smart and he's not an issue. Not for me.

It was really good to see Kemba playing well yesterday. It was very disappointing to see the Js play a game that was focused on their numbers. Even TT called out the selfish play.
Kemba is who he is, a small, speedy and skilled player. He will contribute by utilizing his speed and skill to blow past defenders and put bigs at a disadvantage. He is no where near that right now, actually I am really surprised by his lack of handles. He seems to often lose the ball as he is surveying the floor. On defense, Kemba will lose rebounds and get scored on by the bigs. He can only be a nuisance by quick positioning to take charges and strip the ball when opportunity permits. He has shown me good hands when focused on defense. He can get better than where he is right now and he adds a different variation to the Celts game that makes them versatile.
Hopefully, once the All-Star stuff gets over, the Js will get back to playing basketball the right way. I can understand their desire to put up numbers and get All-Star selections. But other teams also understand it and are gaming for it.
Regarding the Celts, I am not reading too much into the Hawks game, after all it was the Hawks. Given space, even TT could drive on Capella and mostly score. Try that on Gobert and those will be empty possessions. The Celts would do well to improve at 4/5 spot.
Have to Talk about RWill as well. I have now twice seen RWill get low and poke the ball away from point guards as they are trying to drive past him. That is just so special. And then there was the moment when he goaltended Trae Young's outside shot that had already descended at least a foot. The guy can be brilliant and boneheaded. That is why he is not getting PT in crunch time, time when you can't afford mistakes.
It is good to see Nesmith finding his feet on defensive rotations, although he is nowhere near what Langford was doing. Lets hope that he continues to get comfortable and make shots more consistently.
Finally, what has got into PP's head? Looks like he has been told how he should be playing and he is adjusting to it. He has looked very tentative recently.

At crunch time Smart is invariably on the floor, playing his heart out.... and CBS is getting paid the big bucks to provide adult supervision.
I have to agree.
NBA All Defensive 1st Team Marcus Osmond Smart is not the issue.

Where are the kemba haters at? Boston needs Kemba, Tatum and Brown as the scorers to go far. Everything else is a bonus. Present!!!

No doubt we need it. Can he provide it tomorrow, and play a little more d too? cole, what game were you watching? Kemba had 3 impressive strips, had a blocked/deflected shot and took two charges on defense. And he played disciplined, hard nosed defense, especially against Trae Young. What "little more d" would satisfy you out of Kemba? Let's not just spew rhetoric that is totally in contrast to the game he played on the court last night. So you want 5 strips? Or you want him to take 4 charges? What is this little more d you speak of? Please elaborate. The problem is that disappears when he's facing a sturdy guard like Kyle Lowry or better.

I do root for his success. That's cool. It just seems that you don't acknowledge his game to game progress just 13 games into his season. And how impactful that progress is to the Celtics success as opposed to their struggles when he doesn't play and teams key solely on JT and JB. I'm not going to speak for Cole but I expect more out of this guy than being a regular season Superstar and he left me a little bitter for crapping his pants in the playoffs. He was getting his ass handed to him by Lowry and then he wet the bed against Miami. I know he managed to score well but he was still getting his ass kicked. Miami was not better than Toronto in my opinion and we should have beaten them if it were not for Kembas perforance. He played scared. No doubt.

We could use Joe Johnson and Isaiah Thomas on our bench!
Deduct Waters and Tacko.
Since we ain't ever going to play Tacko!
Joe could teach these boys a few tricks, Isaiah too!

Do we go after DeMarcus Cousins again?
I don't think Brad is strong enough to handle his personality, personally.

Rozier keeps playing great ball. Too bad we didnt keep him. Can’t have all alpha dogs. Have to pick. I am OK with the choice of Tatum and Brown over Rozier. Happy for him. He is playing with a lot of confidence.

From BRobb's article today
The knee-jerk reactions can live on talk radio. Reality can live in this space, and the reality is simply this: There’s no big deal available on the table in February when the trade deadline is on March 25.
Right now, the teams with the most sensible Boston targets, the Sacramento Kings (Harrison Barnes) and Orlando Magic (Aaron Gordon), aren’t in a rush to blow their teams up or help Boston build a winner.

Which is why it is always "sensible" to pull the trigger on a deal when it presents itself. Waiting is not always advantageous. Getting SOMETHING is always better than getting NOTHING
