You don't turn down 34 million to make 30. You take the 34 million, PROVE you're worth it, THEN get the 4/120. It's an extra year, and an extra 34 million...................or you can wreck your second franchise in 5 years, like an asshole. Damn! That is a lot of hate! 😁

Played like it too when I watched him the other night. Real deer in the headlights look

Props to Hayward for recognizing this and cashing in up.

When he opted out of 34M, I thought he was going to sign like 3/75. Then I heard 4/100, and even that surprised me. Then I saw 4/120 and I was like, "oh okay, thats what happened. We got horford'd again. Makes sense."
Initially, I thought he was taking less money to pout his way out of town. If I burn down my own house, this will really stick it to the neighbors! But that was before I realized Cha made a blow away offer.

Played like it too when I watched him the other night. Real deer in the headlights look First of all - its nice to see this kind of stuff being said about a white player. I dont think you are implying he is actually on drugs, maybe just taking a shot at his lack of emotion/passion. JD Drew comes to mind as a comparison (but he was more likely to actually be on drugs). But I digress. Across sooooo many forums, I dont think this one, but def def def on the baseball one. Ive seen so many white people baselessly accuse black players (especially baseball) for being on pot. So its just nice to see a little balance. Not to imply I think we should go around baselessly accusing white players of doing drugs just to balance out the fact that its often something thrown at black players. Secondly, I dont think its a lack of "want" thing. A lot of players are great players, but only 25 can be in the top 25. Hayward falls into the next bucket 26-50. Nothing to sneeze at. Just, frankly, not as good as the true alphas. So if he wants to be the alpha on a team, well, I cant see that team beating players with more alpha alphas. Especially when some of those alphas are combining. Its like the top 30 players in the league: we are willing to team up with each other to win. Hayward (at 31): I want to be the best player on my team by a considerable margin (every player ranked 32-50): we are willing to team up with each other to win. So, really, what I mean is. I think its all BS. About wanting to be "the guy." Cuz it would make him the only player in the top 50 who thinks this way, and he's not good enough to win on his own. Not even close. So I go back to....It was the (spits out coffee)..."Wait, how much?!?!?"

Its just different here, even though the media is not nearly what it was back in the day...Its still tougher here than most other places. Nobody is happy to just watch their team play and if they lose theyre forgotten. Theres a lot of criticism daily, and talk, etc...I dont think his wife loved it here either. Plus missing the birth of his kid in the bubble, nothing went right for him here. Im sure he just wanted a new start

While I cannot disagree with any of the above, why didn't he: A. Re-sign with us for the same money?
B. Help facilitate a trade to IND, for the same money?
I do not believe the CHA offer "came out of nowhere", and he was sitting on the fence for days, then signed that deal in 5 minutes.
All we have for 3 years of approx 100 mill of his "services" is a TPE that we may never use. Excuse me, but I have the right to be pissed

I understand that hedley has every right to be pissed.
But I look at it as addition by subtraction.
The only way Hayward leaving the Celtics becomes a bad thing is if Ainge doesn't use the TPE.
If GH didn't leave, there would be no Tristan Thompson.
Celts would basically be the same team from last season.
That's not good because we all know the limitations of last season's Celtics team.
Even if the Celts just get Thad Young with a portion of the TPE, the Celts are better.
It would be like TT and Thad Young for GH.
Semi starting in the 3rd qtr. against Toronto showed us how better the Celts are if they have someone at the 4 spot who can shoot.
GH was not that guy.
In fact, GH was redundant.
Tatum and Jaylen have become so good, there was really no place for GH on the Celts.
A luxury item, that was what GH was to the Celts.
I'm not saying TT's talent level is the same as GH.
But if the Celts can get what they need for GH then it would be an upgrade.
Right now the Celts solved the need for a C with TT.
The next step is to address that PF spot with the TPE.
So if Ainge can get that PF using the TPE then it's like trading GH for 2 role players the Celts desperately need.
A balanced team is more important than having 3 star wing players and no reliable Center and PF.

Looks like Thompson has lit a fire under Rwill!! He is playing great! I believe you are correct...well worth the investment because I also believe that RWill can be the center we need...and with Pritchard possibly making Kemba irrelevant we could be on a roll!...might make Kemba more tradeable as well...because we have a guy under contract for way less...so other teams might not feel so stupid paying for Kemba...

Basically, I feel he stole money for three years, although not his fault, and he owed us one year to show his worth. I think he robbed himself of 34 million. Play one more year, honor your contract, and THEN get your 4 years and 120. Then, records indicate he wanted to go to IND, and asked to be traded to IND, then signed with CHA out of the blue. Then we had to wait for days to get a TPE, which we may never use. Yes, I'm pissed, and usually if a player leaves, even Brady, I blame management. And while I'm also still pissed at our GM, this time it was a two way street. Very well said...I believe Hayward should have stuck with us since we stuck with him...love the game Hayward brings but also agree with Fierce that we got pretty used to not having him around...not to mention he was supposedly bros with Coach BS...but then again Ainge is a prick to negotiate with...
