Danny needs to be on top of ALL free agents, not just Durant, Howard and Horford! They need a bigger staff there ... trying to do too much with too little IMO. Agreed, just too much work and too few people. It's all about out work, out compete and out smart others. DA family business has to end. Recently there was a report that DA's style is very hierarchical, hard to work with. No wonder he has a small team and of course his son in the office too, high probability for conflict of interest.

How would tanking next year help us"? we have the right to swap picks with the Nets, if we tanked , wouldn't we just be wasting that pick? Tanking as in playing the young guys some meaningful minutes We sat them all on the bench and the d league last year. Hope that clears it up. I'm relieved Turner is gone. I can't watch him as our stop gap PG anymore. The draft picks are made. Time to develop them or flush them down the toilet. Turner was a known mediocrity. That's it.

Scal said it himself. The only way players get better is to play. Brad puts winning now ahead of everything. Young players make mistakes that will cost us games, therefore they don't play.

Well, I continue to scratch my head on Portland's decision making. I was shocked they made a max offer to Kanter, and more shocked that OKC matched it. That turned out to be a good decision I guess.
But this one...Damion Liliard needs someone to pass to and hit shots. Evan turner can only do his thing when baby is off the court. I don't see the fit.

Right - so if they didn't make mistakes that cost us games, they would deserve the minutes!! What's wrong with you?

The thing is you can't develop rookies while asking them to win minutes against veteran bench players. It will not work, you go back to James or Kat now, teams have to be patient. My concern is BS may turn high draft picks like Smart/brown into bench players.

If Brown can play D, he will see the floor. Period, end of discussion. Turner is gone now, those minutes will open up. Lastly, your post again makes my point. If you can't take minutes away from our bench players, you're not very good anyway!

Not sure if you ever managed people, especially the new employees. I have and I do, not necessarily I am right at all times but rookies need patience but their ceiling is higher, its long term gain for short term sacrifice. I am not advocating for tanking but all these high draft picks should be given opportunities to start for at least a year before turning them into bench players.

But this one...Damion Liliard needs someone to pass to and hit shots. Evan turner can only do his thing when baby is off the court. I don't see the fit. You may be right and it would seem that neither party (Portland or Turner/Agent) thought it out before offering/accepting that huge contract. One would think that a team making such an offer had done their homework and was sure that the addition would fit their teams philosophy and chemistry before making that commitment. And on the other side, sure $ is important but shouldn't the player/agent make sure the team with the biggest contract is committed to that new addition and the position/minutes he'll be entrusted with before accepting such a deal. How many players sign and then regret that they are not being used as intended or expected? Maybe Turner should have taken less $ for a better fit ... Evan Turner is feeling the frustration of his slow start in Portland, relays Jason Quick of CSNNW. The Trail Blazers gave Turner a four-year, $70MM deal this summer to add backcourt depth and another ballhandler. However, he is playing less than 24 minutes per game and averaging 6.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per night. He has 20 turnovers to go with 24 assists and appears bothered by his lack of playing time. “What can you possibly do?’’ Turner asked after Friday’s game. “When you get three shots and play 27 minutes … that’s not a knock, because we have the best guards in the league, but I mean, what can I possibly do besides be accountable to defense, take care of the ball, rebound, and play the floor? Where I just came from, I had the ball in my hands tons of times to make plays.’’

Ahh, he misses us!! Can't blame him for leaving. As Stevie Miller (who should NOT be in Rock HOF before Boston or Bad Company) once said, "go on, take the money and run."
