Bruce Brown, Miami guard, gets second workout day before draft By Tom WesterholmAP Photo/Lynne Sladky
Miami guard Bruce Brown will get a second workout with the Boston Celtics one day before the 2018 NBA Draft, according to the Boston Globe's Adam Himmelsbach.
Brown, a Boston native, returned for his sophomore season with the Hurricanes last year, likely hoping to improve his draft stock. Prior to the season, he was projected to go somewhere in the lottery, but a disappointing year as a shooter combined with a foot injury helped sink his draft stock, and now he isn't guaranteed to go in the first round. But Brown is an explosive athlete, which will translate well to his NBA potential, particularly on the defensive end. He covers positions 1-3 at a high level, and he is both excellent on ball and attentive off it. Offensively, he attacks the rim hard, and he can operates out of the pick-and-roll well enough to show promise as a creator for others. From a fit perspective, Brown makes a fair amount of sense. The Celtics may be about to lose either Marcus Smart or Terry Rozier, given the upcoming cap crunch, and Brown would be a solid attempt at replacing them. He would get real opportunities to contribute coming off the bench, and the Celtics would get a freak athlete just a year removed from being considered a lottery pick (and just two years removed from five-star recruit status).
The shooting questions are real and concerning -- Brown hit just 26.7 percent of his triples as a sophomore, and his free-throw percentage inexplicably dropped from 74 to 63 percent. But the Celtics have had success developing jumpers, and Brown's physical profile and defensive prowess looks a whole lot like a player they might pursue. A second workout doesn't mean everything, but it's a good indicator that the team likes a player, and Brown checks a number of important boxes the Celtics seem to value. www.masslive.com/celtics/index.ssf/2018/06/boston_celtics_draft_rumors_20_7.html#incart_river_index

With a little over 24 hours remaining until the 2018 NBA Draft, the Boston Celtics are reportedly considering a few different wing prospects, according to the Boston Herald's Mark Murphy.
Those prospects include a local name -- Boston College's Jerome Robinson -- as well as Josh Okogie from Georgia Tech. They also include a name Celtics fans have been lukewarm (at best) about during the pre-draft process: Duke's Grayson Allen.
Robinson would provide scoring punch off the bench -- a deadly 3-point shooter with ability both off the catch and off the dribble, he has risen up draft boards and reportedly had a meeting today with the Washington Wizards, who have the 15th pick. Murphy notes that Allen -- whose offensive skill set make him a nice fit as a role player within the modern game -- might be off the board as well, and Okogie raised his profile with an impressive combine to the point that a team in the teens or low 20s might consider him too. Okogie and Allen are both excellent athletes, with length and potential to grow as defenders.
The Celtics also worked out Bruce Brown from Miami for a second time on Wednesday. Brown is an explosive combo guard who projects well to the NBA on the defensive end. As always, that seems to be a common theme for the Celtics: Acquire players with length and athleticism who can switch and do several different things. If that's the direction Danny Ainge decides to go on Thursday, nobody who has been paying attention to the team over the last few years will be surprised.

If they're not planning on retaining Rozier after next season, they should really put him in a package to move up in to the lottery. Hopefully resign Smart. If we lose both... I don't like our odds of trying to replace them with the 27th pick. With you on using terry to move up if you can get high enough(also more than ok with keeping him) but let smart walk, all day. he is massively overrated and easily replaced. Let someone else severely overpay for his services. Thanks marcus and good luck in the future.
Which one flies lower/slower?
Which one is more lethal?

This might be the only time I disagree with Juice. Smart couldn't hit the ocean, but everything else he brings passing, defense, hustle and toughness wins games. That's why Brad has him out there in the closing minutes.

I like his decision making, other then sometimes his decision to shoot. He was the only one supplying any creativity of even unpredictability at times.

I agree when he decides he's got to chuck up no matter what it's horrible.

Usually when you see that it's because people are backing off him like Rondo.
In the regular season I think it's worth trying to shoot through that. If an adjustment needs to be made, better to just pull him than let the defense get away with 5 on 4 defense.

Exactly...Smart is gone...loved watching him...he will make more elsewhere...cant blame him...a million there a million here...adds up after a while...

I know who he is and a lot of the songs he's written, but it's not like I spent any time in Tulsa, aside from a few weekend excursions from Stillwater. I was more in Wichita and OKC.
