Monroe first Celtic center to score a triple-double since Chief did it in 1987!
I told you guys 5 yrs ago that Monroe was just what we needed in the low post and all I heard was that he played no defense and every team he started for lost (Fierce) ... Don't blame those teams or coaches, blame Monroe ... that's why you ere wrong all along!

Jaylen Brown's career-high 32 points, Greg Monroe's triple-double lead Boston Celtics over Chicago BullsBy Tom WesterholmBOSTON -- Early April games -- especially early April games in which a team's seed is all but locked up -- aren't supposed to be fun. But even given the minimal stakes, and even playing without Kyrie Irving, Al Horford or Jayson Tatum, the Boston Celtics found several ways to make Friday's 111-104 victory over the Chicago Bulls wildly entertaining. Jaylen Brown posted a career-high 32 points, while Jabari Bird, Guerschon Yabusele and Jonathan Gibson (!) all pitched in highlights. Brown was brilliant early, scoring 12 of the team's first 16 points in the first five minutes of the game. After drilling a turnaround jumper, Brown hit a spot-up triple, a post-up layup, and a pair of tough driving shots that pushed the Celtics out in front. Neither team's defense was particularly stalwart however, and the Bulls rallied back to even the score at 30-30 at the end of the period. In the second, Bird went off. The two-way wing made a 3-pointer -- the first of his NBA career -- then started punishing the Bulls with a series of back-door cuts. On one, he left nearly-Boston-Celtics Sean Kilpatrick behind for a monstrous one-hand dunk. By the end of the second quarter, he had 11 points -- a career-high before the end of the half. Still, Boston's defense struggled. The Bulls pulled ahead by as many as 11 on a layup by Lauri Markkanen with 5:18 remaining. The Celtics rallied back, getting a triple by Marcus Morris at the buzzer to close the half, but Chicago took a three-point advantage into the break. The second half featured nearly as much defense as the first (which made it just as entertaining). Brown continued to score essentially at will. Greg Monroe dominated in the paint, posting a triple-double with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists -- the first triple-double by a Celtics center since Robert Parish. Marcus Morris and Bobby Portis were tossed in the third quarter, both picking up double technicalsBut perhaps most entertaining element was Jonathan Gibson, Boston's latest addition on a 10-day contract, who came off the bench and electrified the crowd with three quick 3-pointers that helped push Boston's lead to 99-90 with 5:09 left in the fourth. After each one, Gibson -- who averaged ten 3-point attempts per game in China -- tapped the side of his head, and Celtics fans erupted. When Gibson checked out late in the fourth quarter, he received a standing ovation. But it was Brown, appropriately, who put the game away. With 1:57 left, Brown drove into the lane and found Semi Ojeleye for a two-handed dunk. On the next possession, Brown buried a 3-pointer -- forcing Chicago to call a timeout. Brown hit one more triple with 36 seconds left, putting the Celtics up by 10 and giving him his final total. Brown added four rebounds and two assists to his 11-for-19, 32-point performance. Bird finished 7-for-10 with 15 points. Before being ejected, Morris posted 12 points and three assists. The Celtics have three games remaining in the regular season and no way to move up or down in the standings. We will likely see a lot of Bird, Yabusele and Gibson over the next few days, and Friday's results tell us that could be a lot of fun. www.masslive.com/celtics/index.ssf/2018/04/jaylen_brown_boston_celtics_ch.html#incart_river_index

Brad dumped the P&R (Bulls have been blitzing guards on that) in favor of passing to our bigs and having them make a play ...

Wow! Miami got blown out by the Knicks as rookie guard Dotson burns the Heat for 30 while DC lost to the tanking Hawks with Wall getting the night off ... Huh? Does he still need rest over getting tuned up for the playoffs after being out so long? And of course the one man band loses the third seed to the Sixers tonight ... Call me non-plussed as I expect the Cavs to disappoint this playoffs.

The Wizards are positioning to play us in the first round. Dangerous game I think. It will surely be an interesting last week of games. Setting my sights on a 1st round win for the Celts.
