Wyc wants DA to unload the treasure chest. And unless DA picks up the phone and makes another 'Godfather Offer' to Philly RIGHT NOW, that treasure chest is going to remain on ice for yet ANOTHER season. (Note- no one will be more pissed off about this than I will)
Teague for Noel is as fair a trade as there ever will be. It also matches both team's needs seamlessly. That's why now is the time that we've all been waiting for, time for DA to make the most ridiculously lopsided trade EVER! Give Philly another 'Godfather' and then use this year's draft and free agency to fill any new voids.

The proposed trade between the Hawks and Sixers of Teague for Noel just proves my original theory that Noel not Okafor was would be the Sixer big most likely traded and the one defensive minded teams would target.
If DA doesn't up the ante then he wins anyway with Horford likely to be let go to free agency by the Hawks with Noel at a savings.

The Horford signing wouldn't be a win in my book The last thing we need is another three point shooter. Dunn has more potential than Teague the 76ers could pick him at 3 if we traded for Noel. I would throw in another player if they wanted more maybe. Most anyone on the team for that matter.

The only good shooter we have is Bradley. All the rest are hopefully inconsistent at best. At least one more if not two more shooters are needed. For reference, Crowder took 363, Smart took 241 (61 games to Horford's 82), Bradley took 407, Kevin Love took 439. And Kevin Love, who's supposed to be a "great" 3 point shooter shot 36%. Know what Horford shot? 34.3%. Horford is better than Amir, Sully, Kelly and Jonas......by far!

We have a great bunch of bench guys that's all. |

You are changing your argument (again). You can list an infinite number of reasons that you don't want Horford, but the facts are these: 1. He is better than what we have right now 2. He is shooter, not a banger, something you said you wanted at all 5 positions. 3. He may be able to lure other free agents to Boston, being an All-Star caliber player! 4. Other than building through the draft, give me a BETTER alternative to Horford at this position. 5. What I want is irrelevant, I'm just commenting on what I've read might happen. I will say this, though. Give me a guy who's consistent and proven any day over Sully and Oly! |

I am very willing to draft Dunn and hope to trade Smart and #23 for Noel
I am also fine with someone like Sabonis or DDavis or Diallo at #16
Other than that, I will roll with what we got, be top 3 in the east, and see where the chips/free agent dollars fall next year

That's the point I would make ... there's no need for Sully or Oly if we add Horford and especially if we keep Bender.
Horford's an upgrade at the 4 but is that what we need most ... I'd prefer the upgrade at wing or rim protector before spending max on an upgrade over Oly.

dfries is right. Horford is a good player but he is getting older, will cost a fortune, and is really more of a PF at this point than a C. Yes he would upgrade our team, but I don't think he is a great fit, esp at 20+ million a year.

Sorry forum, last season DA attempted to trade for Okafor with what was called the 'Godfather Offer'. So to clarify my original post, I think the C's should outbid anyone who's trying to send guards to Philly for Noel or Okafor, and unload the treasure chest to acquire OKAFOR. GIVE PHILLY WHATEVER THE HELL THEY WANT FOR HIM!
There were some reports today on Rotoworld and Hoopshype that say Philly is very interested in Jamal Murray. For Okafor's sake, let's hope these reports are true.

Why would they want Smart and a draft pick when they could get Teague? All of them will be gone by #16. Raptors will not let Diallo past 9. |

In my opinion, Thon Maker is or will be better than Noel or Horford. So we are good to go. We can get Maker or Labissierre at #16 hopefully. If not, we should be able to trade up.

Give Philly the 3rd pick and any one of our guards, use the draft to fill the holes. I'd hate to part ways with Smart, but if he's the price for Okafor, give Philly #3 and Smart, and then just draft Denzel Valentine at #16.

I feel if we trade Smart or IT that we will regret it.
If either wants out, its a different story. But they care sooooooo much about winning, those are the kinds of guys you want to collect.
Smart will learn to be a consistent offensive player, then Bam! Perrenial all-star reserve.
IT will learn how to beat EVERY defense against him and Bam! Hall of fame status.
I swear, any guard that can hit 80% on a floater on the run from the free throw area could lead the league in scoring. It's what playoff defenses give up. The mid-range off of the pick n roll.

If Horford wants to go deeper into the playoffs, he should join a stronger team. That's not an easy feat as the Hawks are not a bad team. But there is a team that has the promise of getting stronger-and that's the Boston Celtics. Celtics Life had a "blueprint" for the Celtics to lure Kevin Durant and that involved Horford.
Step one would be the Celtics trading for Jimmy Butler. They have the assets to pull that off in theory. Next is signing Al Horford which would eventually lead to signing Kevin Durant.
Wishful thinking? Not exactly as recent rumors seem to have the Atlanta Hawks seemingly planning on life without their starting center as talks of a trade for Philadelphia 76ers Nerlens Noel emerge.
