5 star recruit just like JD and they are laughing at him here. I don't know what this guy brings but I hope that he is serviceable from the get go. Laughing at the thought that we are going to hand JD the keys in a win-now season and laughing at JD as a prospect are 2 different things. I like JD - because I think the Gleague has crazy talent these days. Lot of high picks from the Gleague last night and lots of picks overall. And in this impressive league, JD did well. But its very rare that rookies jump into starting roles or even 6th, 7th, 8th man roles when a) such rookies werent super high picks and b) the team is in win now mode. It happens for sure, but its rare. Most rookies on win now teams, watch and learn for a season or 2. well for FK sake, we handed in the keys to a rookie coach and no one bitched about it. Actually now that I think of it, perhaps JD should have played last year and we would be ahead of the curve. Doesn't golden state play rookies right of the gate? Ditto with Denver? The two champions of the past two seasons.

Maybe there is a reason JD didn't play last year.............like he's not ready. You and the other one should coach the team and let him do it. We'd have the first overall pick next year........

Still in need of strong big man rebounder or two. Jmo.
Who is going to keep Jokic and Embiid off the boards?
Zinger? Nope. Al? Nope, he let Bam do whatever he wanted.
RWill? Hell no! His rebounding has dipped badly.
Not enough respect for rebounding from this organization.
They purposely selected a 2 way player in Jordan Walsh imo.

Stevens learned little from Ainge's mistakes on piling up 2nd rounders..
Remember this trade?
The Boston Celtics have agreed to trade the 30th overall pick to the Memphis Grizzlies, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. The pick was used to select Desmond Bane.
The Celtics reportedly will receive two future second round picks from the Grizzlies in the trade..
Banes stats last year?
21.5 REB 5.0
AST 4.4
FG% 47.9
3P% 40..8

Never forget this! We had 3 chances in Rd 2 to pick him ahead of the Lakers.
Lakers
17. Jalen Hood-Schifino, G, Indiana
40. Maxwell Lewis, F, Pepperdine (via Pacers)
Widely expected to trade their picks, instead, the Lakers wound up selecting two of my favorite prospects in the draft. Hood-Schifino is as rock-solid as combo guards come, doing a lot of things right and not much wrong. Lewis profiles as a prototypical 3-and-D wing, with the creation upside for much more down the road. Who knows if the Lakers keep them, but Rob Pelinka did an excellent job with the picks he had. Grade: A (Ward-Henninger)
40. Los Angeles Lakers (via Pacers): SF Maxwell Lewis, Pepperdine
The Lakers extract excellent value with a second-round steal in Maxwell Lewis, a prospect who we ranked as a first-rounder but slipped to No. 40. He had a huge sophomore season with Pepperdine and projects as a long, rangy wing who can attack and finish while adding shooting range. Grade: A

Ian Begley: Boston is adding former Golden State sharpshooter Myke Mulder to its Summer League team. Mulder hit 44 percent from beyond the arc with the Warriors in 2020-21. The 29-year-old connected on 41 percent of his threes last season (10 attempts per game) in the G League last season. – via Twitter IanBegley Free Agency, G League, Summer League, Mychal Mulder, Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors
Did we sign any undrafted players when the draft was over?
Nuff said!

Brad made great choices in Horford and Ime, White and Brogdan trades.
Now he is making equally as bad ones in chosing Mazzulla and Smart trade and this draft.
That is where I stand until proven wrong.

You don't worry about cap over talent imo. People will want to take your talent off your hands for you.
Cap space sometimes turns into a Gallinari let down signing.
Makes for happy owners though.
As they continue to sell hype with no real nuggets behind it.

So you aren't happy with Porzingis for Smart?
I thought you wanted a big center ... Zinger at 7'3" isn't big enough?
(I've never been a fan of Zinger but willing to see how he pans out here)

I like Zinger. He had his best season in a while last season. His injuries seem more freakish than chronic. The ACL and meniscus were contact injuries. I've had a torn meniscus. The hardest thing was to not use it too quickly or too much because it felt great the night I came home.
They need to keep Al and he fresh. Give them rest, don't tax them during the regular season. Save them for the playoffs. As above I see Zinger more or less taking Al's place, and Al taking Grant's place.
I appreciate what Smart gave the C's. Also think this is a good time for him to move on. Both team dynamic-wise and new CBA-wise.
Seems like Brogdan will also have to go. And I don't buy Windbag's reporting. Brogdan was excellent until he was injured. No reason to think he won't be available and good next year. Sixth player of the year has a lot of value...From what part of his backside does Windbag get his material?

I'm rooting for him, too, but these guys know more about basketball than we do.............I will show up anywhere, I've been wrong many times before, and I admit it.

Brogdon for Porzingis would have been epic!...now we lost Smart, who bled Celtic green, and are stuck with a broke down Brogdon who we never should have got to begin with...why the heck we ever ever got him when we already had Smart, White, and Pritchard I will never understand... Sort of like the Padres getting Boegarts when we already had about 12 shortstops (Machado, Tatis, Kim, Cronenworth...) instead of getting pitching, pitching and yes, more pitching...

Good news here: the reports on how injured Brog is went from scary to mixed. Reading now - Clips backed out because they wouldnt have a chance to do the physical by the Porz opt in deadline, not because they looked closely and came away thinking next year is in jeopardy. Yet they were Ok with Smart and did not worry about time to do a physical?...Eff Brogdon and Opie...was a horrible signing from the get go...

I wouldn't give Windhorst' account any play. The only information he ever gets is something from Lebron or his camp. Other info says Brogdan will be ready for the season. With the CBA both Smart and Brogdan were probably gone. Look for Brogdan to go sooner rather than later for a price tag suitable for the 6th Man of the Year.

Post draft signings of undrafted players late last night for Summer League and 2-Ways ... I skimmed thru this page and despite all the players there, I couldn't find 1 player picked up by the Celtics. The Sixers were very active getting 2-3 2-Ways already and the Lakers got busy as well. Is Brad too busy getting beneath the apron to refill the roster in Maine and fill the Summer League roster or will we be borrowing excess players from other teams like last summer when we had a skeleton crew with a few undersized centers? ftw.usatoday.com/lists/tracking-top-undrafted-free-agents-2023-nba-draft-signed

According to a league source, the Celtics summer squad is expected to include 7-foot-1-inch Polish center Aleksander Balcerowski, who averaged 9.2 points and 3.4 rebounds for Gran Canaria last season in Liga ACB, Spain’s top pro division. Boston has been keeping tabs on Balcerowski for several years and tried to add him to their summer squad last season. – via Boston Globe Aleksander Balcerowski, Summer League, Boston Celtics
Forward Jordan Walsh, who was selected with the 38th pick of Thursday’s draft, will also be on the squad, along with Celtics 2022 second-round pick JD Davison, Celtics guard Justin Champagnie, and Maine Celtics guard Kamar Baldwin, with a few other spots potentially to be filled in this week. – via Boston Globe Jordan Walsh, Kamar Baldwin, Summer League, JD Davison, Justin Champagnie, Boston Celtics
