Butler excels at dribbling towards the basket and faking the defender & scoring or getting fouled. We felt we were a great 3 pt shooting team but Miami is better than us and they have been missing Tyler Herro a VG 3 pt shooter. In game 6 Tatum was very effective driving to the basket but we continued with 3s and they scored 14 to our 7 and only White's tip in saved us from their comeback. Miami has a better bench than us with Strus & Robinson scoring 24 last night but the team's 3 pt shooting was awesome with 17 or 51 pts almost 1/2 plus Butler adding 2 pts or foul shots. We needed drive to the basket in game 7 by Tatum, Brown & White and rely on 2s as our 3s weren't falling either. Don't know who could be available as a big man...Emibid, Jokic are exceptional...but a big man can save a team if 3pts shots are not falling with more Rebs & Tap ins on the Offensive Board. Going into next season we need change the roster as just making the playoffs and then losing is not the answer to success, I think!!! I think even a guy like Drummond may have helped

Left the game with Denver winning. Look how a team like Miami keeps winning. Pure grit, great coaching is my guess. Fully commited players.
I've been watching "Everything But the Chip" about the 2001 Sixers on NBATV. They won like 4 of 6 individual NBA Awards that season on way to the Finals vs the Koby-Shaq Lakers - MVP (Iverson), Mutombo (DPOY), McKie (SMOY) and Larry Brown (COY).
Loaded with trophies and Iverson having bought into Larry Brown's coaching after early dissension, Sixers get to Finals and take 1-2 in L.A. then fall apart at home.
In the 1st round vs the Pacers (5 Game Series) the Sixers were almost upset and Larry Brown said that "if you're the right kind of coach you should take responsibility for games that you lose especially if you're gonna blow an 18pt lead."

Brad Stevens had previously said the Celtics would hire at least one new assistant coach, and specifically one with “a lot of NBA experience.” It’s safe to say Cassell fits the bill.

Silas is joining the Pistons as the top assistant for newly-hired Monty Williams’ staff, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Another assistant target, Frank Vogel, was also taken out of the running after he was hired by the Suns to lead their loaded roster.

Boston is currently targeting former Bucks top assistant Charles Lee according to a report from Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports. Lee has been a top assistant for Mike Budenholtzer before he was let go last month by Milwaukee. He was also interviewed for several head coaching openings this year including the Pistons, Raptors, Suns and Bucks opening before those franchises settled on other candidates. Fischer also notes that Lee is involved in talks with other teams right now so it’s far from a slam dunk that Boston would land him particularly after they hired another top assistant in Cassell. It’s evident though that Boston will need to make several additions to their coaching staff in the wake of three assistants including Ben Sullivan departing to join Ime Udoka’s staff in Houston. Helping a team like the Celtics get over the hump would look good on Lee’s resume though and could help lead to future head coaching opportunities around the league. Lee, 38, played overseas as a guard for several years after playing college basketball with Bucknell and has been a top lieutenant to Mike Budenholtzer for the better part of the last decade. He spent four years in Atlanta before joining the Bucks in 2018. www.masslive.com/celtics/2023/06/celtics-targeting-bucks-assistant-to-add-to-joe-mazzullas-staff-report.html

I remember that. Iverson played out of his mind. Snow was their PG. A somewhat average team with Iverson as their star. Mckey had a great season. Mazz got a pass. I can't get over that. Putting Cassell in i guess means that if Mazzulla sucks halfway through, Cassell will take over HC.

Ratliff broke his wrist and was traded for Montumbo ...
They must have made Cassell a promise. Looks like they opted for Sam over Silas.
If they get Lee (Bud's asst w/ Bucks) that would be a strong front bench.

I call it the Spurs approach from the iceman era. One scorer, one bench scorer, and the rest defenders.

We play more guerilla style street ball. Let them play and figure it out.

An old report but gives some background on Charles Lee:
Lakers To Interview Bucks Assistant Charles Lee May 12th, 2022 at 12:19pm CST by Rory Maher
The Lakers intend to interview Bucks assistant coach Charles Lee for their head coaching vacancy, having requested permission to speak to him, sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium (Twitter link).
Lee, 37, played four seasons at Bucknell from 2002-06 prior to making international stops in Israel, Belgium and Germany. He started his NBA assistant coaching career in 2014 with Atlanta, and has spent the past eight seasons working with head coach Mike Budenholzer, winning a championship with Milwaukee last season.
Lee was reportedly a finalist for head coaching jobs in New Orleans and Washington last summer, and he has continued to receive interest this season. Within the past month, he has interviewed for the positions in Sacramento and Charlotte. The Kings ultimately hired Mike Brown to be their new head coach, but the Hornets’ lead job is still vacant.
The Lakers have now interviewed (or are expected to interview) Lee, fellow Bucks assistant Darvin Ham, Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin, Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson (formerly the head coach of the Nets), and former head coaches Mark Jackson and Terry Stotts for their head coaching position.
Bucks assistant Charles Lee is thrilled to be taking part in a Basketball Without Borders camp in Cairo, Egypt, per Jim Owczarski of The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “I’ve always wanted to be part of this initiative and event because of what it does just for our game and what it’s doing for kids in Africa and giving them the resources and the experience to get some quality coaching, some quality game reps and some quality teaching in a four-day period,” Lee said. “This whole thing has just been an unbelievable experience for me to be a part of.”
Memo: Brogdon was on this camp in Africa with Lee

Been hearing a lot about the Mavs......Kyrie is on the Mavs.......Jaylen and Kyrie get along.........
So, I tried this, again, IF Jaylen wants to leave. I do not want to trade him:
To POR - Hardaway Jr. and PP
To DAL - Jaylen
To BOS - Simons and Bertans, with #3 pick.
Edit - scratch this idea, I didn't know Hardaway was 36 years old!! Yikes!!
