This game makes me wonder if the heat can put together b2b efforts

If we ever win two in a row this series is over. This game makes me wonder if the heat can put together b2b efforts I thought the Heat was better than this...they were lucky to win game 1 with us playing without Al and Marcus...this series is over so long as we stay healthy...

Slow Butler down and stop Vincent then the Heat will not have a chance. Stay glued to their three point shooters. Don’t jump out the gym with pump fakes.

Four takeaways from Celtics' Game 2 beatdown of Heat with Boston stealing homecourt advantage as momentum shifts
(AP Photo/Lynne Sladky) By Brian Robb | brobb@masslive.com
MIAMI — The Celtics fought back in an impressive fashion in Game 2 against the Heat, leading by as many as 34 points in the second half on their way to a 127-102 blowout of Miami. The victory evened up the series at 1-1 as things shift up to Boston for Games 3 and 4.
A look at four takeaways from one of Boston’s best performances of the postseason.
Celtics make history from 3-point range: Boston has had a few incredible shooting nights this postseason but they had one for the record books in the first quarter on Thursday night. Boston set a new franchise 3-point range in the first quarter for a regular season or playoff game according to stats guru Dick Lipe, by knocking down nine of their 11 attempts from downtown.
Six different Celtics hit 3s in the outburst as Boston quickly erased a 10-point lead in the opening minutes to building a double-digit lead for themselves after the opening quarter.
Jaylen Brown: 3/3
Grant Williams: 2/2
Al Horford: 1/1
Jayson Tatum: 1/1
Payton Pritchard: 1/1
Marcus Smart: 1/3
The outburst set the stage for a 62-27 first half run for Boston and help the team shoot 51 percent from 3-point range on the night, their best shooting night of the postseason
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown beat Heat with the pass: The Heat may have one of the best defenses in the NBA but they lack the defensive talent to stop both Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum in 1-on-1 situations. That has led to Tatum and Brown seeing a countless flurry of bodies collapsing them in the pick-and-roll and on drives to the paint. While a lot of those situations turned into turnovers in Game 1, both players were far better in looking to make the right pass in Game 2. The duo combined for eight assists compared to just three turnovers while both hitting the 20-point mark efficiently. It was the perfect balance of getting their own and setting up their teammates when the Heat tried to contain them. If Boston’s stars can maintain that level of balance shot/pass the rest of the series, they will be tough to beat, especially with PJ Tucker, one of Miami’s best defenders, going down with a knee injury in the second half of Game 2.
Marcus Smart has a picture perfect night as floor general: The point guard was the only Celtic regular to have a rough shooting night but it didn’t matter on a night he was doing everything else well. The Celtics assisted on 16 of their first 22 made field goals, a sensational percentage that Smart was a main catalyst of with his team-high seven assists. He probed Heat’s defense in the pick-and-roll and found Boston’s shooters in the right spot time after time that helped to unlock Boston’s offense after a slow start in the opening minutes. His offense came alive in the second half as well with 14 of his 21 points coming after intermission. When all was said and done, Smart finished with his second straight double-double and playoff-highs this season in both points (24) and assists (12) while playing 39 of the first 41 minutes of the game on a sprained foot, finishing just one rebound shy of the triple double.
Tyler Herro had a target on his back defensively: One of Miami’s best offensive weapons in Game 1 showed some of his biggest flaws in Game 2. Boston’s offense caught fire when Herro entered the game in the first quarter and it’s no coincidence on that front. Herro was a team-worst -33 for Miami in his 24 minutes as the Celtics constantly went after the shooting guard with dribble penetration or running through screens. Miami sent help his way a lot, which opened the floor up for Boston’s shooters. Payton Pritchard even made the “too short” signal on Herro during one play in the second quarter after making a shot over him in the paint. The third-year guard brings a lot with his shooting and playmaking but the Celtics are going to have to make Miami pay a lot in this series if they don’t play a lot of strong defenders around him.

Forsberg & Felgy talking about Al's Protocol Experience ... Odd how he was able to get back so fast unless he was locked out with a false positive in the 1st place or had such a light case that he was able to prove B2B negative tests. The League may have conceded that their original test was flawed. And that's my complaint! The NBA can do this to anyone anytime ... Before they lock out a player before a playoff game they should need multiple positive tests from multiple labs and the team s/b able to contest if their independent lab has a contrary finding. If Al really has Covid do you think he'd want to expose his teammates to potential quarantine in the middle of a playoff run? Of course not!
The NBA spotted the Heat 1 game so this would go at least 6 games for financial reasons obviously ... they don't care about the health of their players as much as the $ from the media contracts. I hope the NBA doesn't pull this BS on the C's again ... they owe us one vs the Heat or even the next opponent in the Finals.
I'm awaiting my reparations Adam Silver!

Derrick White will likely be back in Boston for Game 3 Saturday night ... Maybe with this event behind him, he can now concentrate on roundball and helping his team advance to the Finals. I wonder if maybe he was having some trouble keeping his head in the game knowing his wife could go into labor any time. It s/b noted as indicated below that they were prepared to induce the birth between games but nature beat them to it. Will "Jimmy" Hendrix play ball or guitar?
White missed the Boston Celtics’ 127-102 blowout win over the Miami Heat in Game 2 of their best-of-seven Eastern Conference finals to be with his wife Hannah, who went into labor a little earlier than expected.
Their son arrived Thursday and was 19.5 inches and 7 pounds, 8 ounces. He might come from an athletic family, but he’ll have a musical name as Derrick and Hannah named him “Hendrix James White.”
There had been plans to induce on an off day, but nature had other ideas. White reposted Hannah’s Instagram photo of Hendrix’s foot, which included his name, height, weight and “Love at first sight.”www.masslive.com/celtics/2022/05/derrick-white-welcomes-newborn-son-hendrix-james-white-on-same-day-celtics-blow-out-heat-in-game-2.html

If we ever win two in a row this series is over. This game makes me wonder if the heat can put together b2b efforts Yeah, cuz of Butler. Everyone else though, I wonder about. We are doing a good job of taking advantage of the lack of lowry. They really miss his perimeter defense, scrappiness, and shooting. Seems like Herro keeps coming off the bench for them and kind of giving them a jolt. But my hunch is nots going to be enough to pull em to 4 victories (no jinx).

Im enjoying these short benches. These usually coddled athletes are getting pushed to play big minutes. Breath of fresh air.

Breath of fresh air. my issue with a short bench is how do you keep players ready and sharp if playing a 7 man rotation, yet 8 or 9 players are then needed? Al's age. RWill's health uncertainty. GWill's yoyo-ness. Given all 3, Theis, WHite and PP need to stay ready/sharp when, not if, called on

But when White returns , it will be an 8 man roto w Smart, White, PP, Jaylen, Tatum, GWill, Horford, RWill Theis is a vet and a pro, I have no doubt he'll be able to be Theis if called upon. (Not that I particularly mind a few minutes here and there for him cuz he'll have fouls to give). But 1-1 in ECF, its time to focus on the short term. Beat the Heat in 6 and get your rest then.
