Excuses..... excuses.... excuses.....
So Smart has been lying to us the past 5 years about his defensive prowess?
Maybe he's not the 1st team NBA All Defensive player I thought he was.
And maybe I should think twice (thanks, Heds) about wanting to bear his children.
Or..... maybe CBS simply can't coach at the NBA level.
Maybe he's way over his head.
Same same for President of Celtic Operations, DA.
Maybe all these excuses don't cut it.....
....or conversely maybe CBS' and DA's a-holes don't smell (Hed's nodding in agreement)!!
Maybe its nap time!!
Pud
I blamed Ainge.............it's not on Stevens. Sorry that Smart couldn't stop anyone, again, not on Stevens.
maybe I haven't been paying attention but isn't that ("I blame Ainge") a sea change for you? Seems to me you've been a staunch defender of Danny on this forum for quite some time. When did you change your opinion? When he failed to make an addition at the trade deadline again?

Yes. I still think he is one of the best GM's in the league, but he really dropped the ball this year. He wanted, I know, the rooks to step up. GWill, Romeo, Carson.....especially after Summer league and pre-season. They did not deliver....on offense. Semi has also been up and down...mostly down. Green has shown flashes, but we need a Jamal Crawford type..........I still love the team he put together, and I do NOT think Stevens should get taken over the coals for stuff that is not his fault!

Ok but you have to admit that Stevens has not helped himself in a number of regular situations.
Time Out Mgmt
Matchups Player Mgmt (inappropriate resting - length, point in game & opposition on court) - See quote below #rhythm
Preparedness Ability to sway the refs with constant harping When to play long or small/inside or outside
Ball movement - Are the players listening? Demanding more from players (stick) rather than praising or protecting them (carrot)
I can't stop thinking of how dumb it was to save his final time out with 8.5 seconds left and letting Kemba take the inbounds the length of the court (8 secs to halfcourt) only to see him double teamed and turn it over nezt to the opponent's basket. Had Brad used the TO we would have had the ball at halfcourt and he could have had RWill receive the inbounds and game over.
Anyway, for all the good things Brad does, he has just as many shortcomings ...
#rhythm: Smart highlighted the difficulty a minutes restriction can create in finding one’s personal rhythm on-court.

I actually think the ball movement is very good until the end of the game. Whether he tells them that or not is a different story. Many players are on minutes restrictions to save them for the playoffs. This happens on most teams, not just ours. Smart should shut up and play ball. We get up in most games, sometimes by double digits, I'd say that is a very good job of preparation. In the playoffs, he will shorten the bench, and the starters will play big minutes. I'm not worried about that, just about production, which is not on him. The timeout "thing" may be on him. Some coaches let them play it out, so the other team can't prepare. When it works, it's "good coaching." When it doesn't.........we get this mayhem on the board that the guy can't coach. We all make mistakes, and perhaps he has had a bad run this year, but that doesn't mean he sucks as a coach, or we should fire him.

Remember at the beginning of the year we were giving up big leads in the first quarter. We stopped that.
We had a bad run last year. Were doing as well as anyone expected this year.
