Sounds to me like Bender is the guy if he drops to 3. Agree?

Yes, I took it the same way......IF we keep the pick, and the kid comes over and works out.

I hope that if we pick him, that either he goes to the nbdl or is with the team otherwise it will be one of those cases where we don't know what project he is.

Well, he was probably answering a direct hypothetical question. I have too much confidence in Danny to believe that he would foolishly tip his hand. He might prefer Bender, but saying so, decreases the demand for the pick. If Philly is interested in trading for Dunn, for example, they might now think that they can go after the #4 pick which should be cheaper than #3. There is nothing to gain by tipping your hand, and I believe that Danny is smarter than that.

wouldn't Simmons be #1 to Philly with the Lakers then going for Ingram? INgram fits perfectly opposite Randle, right?

Ingram fits perfectly opposite Randle, right? www.sportsrageous.com/nba/nba-draft-rumors-lakers-choosing-dragan-bender-over-brandon-ingram-if-76ers-pick-ben-simmons/23526/According to Lakers Nation, Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak was in Israel this past March to scout Dragan Bender. Kupchak stated that the Lakers are in need of a big man and added that they already have a steady line up in the backcourt.
“If you look at our depth chart, you can make an argument that we need a player in the frontcourt,” Kupchak said via NBA.com. “We need a big. Jordan is a free agent and we’d like to sign him. D’Angelo, we’re very high on, and we have Lou Williams. I think we’re more set in the backcourt than the frontcourt. Two days after the Lottery, that’s where we are. In six weeks, we’ll see.”
If the Philadelphia 76ers pass on Ben Simmons, there is a greater possibility that the Lakers will grab him. However, if it is between Brandon Ingram and Dragan Bender, the Lakers will be facing a tough decision since this will be a huge factor in their team’s future in the league.
Just saying ...

The best thing that can happen for Boston is that the Big 2 (Simmons and Ingram) grows into a Big 3. So the Bender hype is a great thing.

Does anyone really think the Lakers are immune to doing the "wrong" thing after last year's draft? Haha ... Thnx Mitch! ... Thnx Jimmy!

I hope Mitch doesn't draft Ingram because he went to Duke! That's what he said about Okafor last year.....lol. If that happens, he should be fired. I agree Simmons goes to PHI, but after that? AND, Jordan Clarkson is a free agent, for the record. The stupid guys on the radio out here keep talking like he's already under contract. AND - Stephen A says "DeMar DeRozan is going to Los Angeles." - wow, that should help their back court situation...
Any of you guys like Clarkson? I think he put up big numbers on a bad team.

Ingram and Okafor are completely different animals. Okafor was a high floor / low ceiling guy. Never going to be great, but going to be solid right away. A good guy to round out your starting rotation , but not a star. If he's your fourth best starter, you are a good team. If he's your second best player, you are a cusp playoff team.
Ingram is much more of a wildcard. Unlike Okafor, could be transcendent. I dont think any GM would pass him over at #2. You are not going to be fired if you draft Ingram. If you pas on Ingram, and he turns out to be as good as advertised, thats firable. GM's err on the safe side (they do not make the gutsy move that could cost them their job)

Did Stephen A imply the Lakers when he said LA? If Smith didnt specify, he could have meant the clippers. Where DeMar would be a 2/3 hybrid w CP III at the 1 and two talented bigs in D.Jordan and Griffin. Good team. I think its likely; however, that DeMar stays where he's at. Toronto is probably thinking the same thing we are: "we arent that far from being able to take the East."

Clarkson is an RFA not a UFA. Lakers can, and will, match any offer. The most a team can offer him is the MLE due to the "Gilbert Arenas Provision." The max offer for an RFA that's been in the league 2 yrs or less is the MLE.

Unless, they choose not to match. Which would be stupid, because he has trade value. So just match the offer and trade him, if they want to upgrade to DeRozan.

I have my doubts about this. Colangelo will make a right move on this one. I also think Colangelo wont want okafor out (I hope I am wrong). With this in mind, I think Philly will go for Dunn or at least trade for him. Thats what they are missing right now.

I just hope we don't get stuck with Bender! I agree. But if Ainge takes Bender at 3, I will immediately change my tune to "Ainge sees something that I don't." If they think Bender is the guy take him. I dont think he's the guy but if they do, take him. They know better than I do. So while I wouldnt be thrilled if they grabbed him, because I'm not high on him, I would assume that if he does go #3, it's likely that I'm wrong in my assessment.

Most of the best fre agents to me are bigs , so reluctantly I take the Kentucky guard who I think can contribute sooner than Bender and is hopefully the new hoop age shooter we need. I woulduse some other draft choices to pick futures like Qi, Maker and maybe ready to play Hammonds.

I also am interested in Siakam, as well as Of course guys like Labissiere and Zimmerman. After Murray the only other backcourt guy I would look at, is Korkmaz unless someone drooped for some reason

As for free agents I would like obviously Durant , as the game changer. Others would be Whiteside, Pachulia, Gasol, Noah, Battum, maybe Bazemore at the right price and Ezelli. Only small I would take a sot at, on the cheap is Lawson if he is sober

You and I are on the same page with Murray, Korkmaz, Hammons, Qi, Maker & Siakam ... 6 of 8! Who are your other two ... Bentil, Hamilton, Bolomboy or Dniaye amongst them?

Ainge won't draft Bender unlees he's 100% sure Bender will be a star. Too much riding on this pick. He won't be stashed either
I stil say he'll take the safe route and get Noel or Okafor and give Phila the three pick for Dunn or Murray. I hope Noel but Okafor would put up 20 every nite for us. He'll be as good as anyone in the paint the next few years.
I don't believe any reports from anyone at this time especially Ainge You can bet it's all trash why would any GM show their hand.
